The Best Ranch Dressing Ever!


When we switched from the SAD (Standard American Diet) to a plant based lifestyle it required quite a few changes.  We seemed to make the transition rather easily.  I hear all the time how people can’t go without meat or they would “die” without cheese.  My hard item to let go of was ranch dressing.


I researched how to make my own ranch dressing before making the switch.  There are so many recipes out there.  Most contained the same basic ingredients but in different amounts.   I looked at what I had on hand or could easily get and pieced together a few different ones to make my own version.

When we made the switch to “No Animal Products”, the recipe required more tweaking to make it compatible.  It ended up being easier than I had thought.


I will include a vegan and a regular version for those that aren’t on the same path as us.  It is yummy both ways.


1 -1/2 cups dry Parsley Flakes

2 TBS dry Dill Weed (It does have a dill flavor to it.  I told myself the next batch would have less but we liked it so I kept it at this amount)

¾ cup minced dry onion

¼ cup granulated dry garlic

½ cup garlic salt

2 TBS Salt

¼ cup Pepper

Mix ingredients in a bowl or jar and store in a quart jar.  This will last for many batches of dressing.

To make dressing:

Mix- 1 cup mayo (or vegan mayo)

1 cup milk (soy, rice, almond, cashew, or other non dairy milk for vegan)

1-2 TBS dry ranch mix

Making Ranch


Mix in a jar or whisk in a bowl and pour into your dressing container and store in the refrigerator.  When you mix it, it will seem a bit thin or runny.  Allow to sit overnight in the fridge to thicken.  If you want to make a dip, add less milk, as desired.
