Mary’s Mini Diet – Day 8 – It’s a Girl!

It started like any other day…

I get up and check my blood sugar…what???  94?  It was within normal range? (Normal is less than 100)  Awesome Sauce!!

I made my coffee and started some rice for breakfast.  Breakfast was rice sweetened with a bit of maple syrup, cinnamon, and some soaked cranberry raisins.

Lunch time rolled around and I knew I needed to eat before I ran some errands.  We made a $25 purchase at the store and though the receipt showed $25 worth of items, the end total charged us $42, so we needed to go in and speak to the manager.

For lunch I made us some sautéed veggies.  I sautéed them in water and added a bit much.  When the veggies were tender, I added a tiny bit of Better than Bouillon, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.  I poured this over the rice left from breakfast.  It was yummy.  I also had a small bowl later for a snack.

While out shopping yesterday, my husband pointed out an ad on the bulletin board for a dog someone was trying to find a home for.  While in the store today, we saw another flyer and he commented on it again.

As we were standing there in this tiny store while the owner was working on fixing this, a man and a woman walk in and ask if they found a home for his dog yet.  The woman, his cousin, needed to go to Mexico for some medical treatment and he couldn’t tend to her dog. I think this was a sign.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary this year and have never owned a dog of our own.  They took me to the truck to see her and she came over to me and instantly became friends.

We had some errands to run so we told them we would take her but we needed to pick her up on the way home.  This gave them time to say goodbye and gather her things.  She came with a few sweaters.

After picking up our new family member, MiniPoo, we headed home.  For dinner I made some homemade rice a roni.   It isn’t totally compliant with Mary’s Mini due to the pasta, but we added so little and I didn’t really think about it until after I made it.  I served this with asparagus and beets for greens and color, and a glass of white grape peach juice.

As we got ready to bed, MiniPoo followed me everywhere and when I got into bed, she pushed her way under the covers and curled up at my feet.  Today was a good day…..

Stay tuned for day 9.
